My Apple TV
August 13, 2008 · Filed Under Apple TV
About two weeks ago I finally purchased an Apple TV! Yes, I finally did it! I am excited about the Apple TV and the possibilities it has to manage and expand the way I view media. Possibly the only downfall to going with the Apple TV over the XBox 360 is being locked into iTunes for all my media. That is the biggest disadvantage of the Apple TV, iTunes! So, over the next few weeks I will chronicle moving my media to digital format and how I am adjusting to living in the closed box of iTunes. Say tuned!

Have fun with your new AppleTV! I’m glad my article on WHS with the AppleTV was helpful.
You don’t mention what you’re converting TV shows with, but I highly recommend HandBrake, if you haven’t already found it. The Mac version is much easier to use, but the Windows version is good too. It even comes with an AppleTV preset output.
I am using HandBrake to encode my video. I have it on my new Vista x64 machine with AnyDVD and I am able to encode anything. I have successfully installed iTunes on my new Windows Home Server and I am streaming content from the server to my Apple TV.
