Rumor: Nvidia MacBooks on October 14th?

From The Unofficial Apple Weblog
TUAW is hearing from various sources that new MacBooks are right around the corner, and that they might even have some extra Nvidia power in them. A source tells us that Nvidia is showing off new MacBooks to their employees, and word is going around that the new versions will be released as soon as October 14th.
Of course these are all rumors, so don’t be surprised if 10/14 comes around and there are no changes in Apple’s lineup. But the rumors have been adding up — we’ve heard for a while that MacBooks were due for a refresh, and we’re not the only ones hearing about Nvidia units being included as well. Not to mention that Apple has apparently finally realized that gaming is worth embracing, and the next logical step for a gaming upgrade would be the MBP line.
Don’t put money on it, but if you’re planning to buy a MacBook and can wait another few weeks, you might want to wait and see. I’m getting close to being in the market for a new laptop, and as a gamer, I’d love to see a MacBook with a little more graphical oomph to it.

- Music Video playlists
- Genius playlists
- On-the-Go Playlists
- Standby Option (a much needed option!)
- HD TV Show Playback and Purchase
How MobileMe Won Me Back
When Apple announced MobileMe I was extremely excited about the ability to have push calendars, email and contacts. However, my excitement was quickly extinguished when MobileMe lost all my contacts and could not keep my Safari bookmarks organized. I tried to accept it, but ultimately I gave up on MobileMe. I decided to simply quit using it and maybe give it a try again later. Well, that later finally came this past Monday. I decided to reactivate my MobileMe account on my iPhone and with an open mind, tried MobileMe again. Read more
Rumor: Blu-ray Support for OS X 10.5.6:
from MacRumors.com

After last week’s release of the iPod Nano, iPod Touch and iTunes 8, we [MacRumors.com] neglected to post our traditional rumor wrap up. In the end, however, our pre-event rumor roundup accurately spelled out the major releases.
The bulk of the information came from Kevin Rose who detailed a number of the changes accurately. Readers should find interesting that Rose also revealed some future details that have not yet materialized.
Specifically, Rose expects that Blu-ray support will finally be built into Mac OS X 10.5.6. Blu-ray is the next generation high definition video disc format that only recently “won” the format battle after major studios decisively chose it over HD-DVD. Apple has been a member of the Blu-Ray consortium for years but has not yet revealed their plans for Blu-ray support.
With the release of Mac OS X 10.5.5 earlier this week, Apple should begin work on Mac OS X 10.5.6. Built-in Blu-ray support into Mac OS X would open the door for Apple to finally incorporate Blu-ray drives into their Macs as well as Blu-ray support into their suite of iLife applications. The 10.5.6 update will not come before the rumored notebook revisions in October, but could conceivably be ready by Macworld San Francisco 2009.
