Tuesday App Showcase: PhoneFlix

September 30, 2008 · Filed Under App Showcase · Comment

Tuesday App Showcase is a weekly look at my favorite Apps available from the App Store.

One of best features of the iPhone is the ability to have the web in your pocket at all times. With instant on service, applications like PhoneFlix can be very useful. PhoneFlix is a free application that lets you manage your Netflix queue when you’re on the move. I have been a Netflix user for years and have always wanted a way to add and remove movies in my queue from my mobile device. PhoneFlix from Next Mobile Web makes the experience fun and easy. You can easily add movies with the touch of your finger. Quickly browse top 100 and top 25 genre listings for popular favorites. PhoneFlix also has an easy to use search feature to find the DVD you are looking for. Plus view your recent activity, recommendations, and reviews from your Netflix account. I have been using PhoneFlix since its launch and I must say it has been a wonderful experience. More details and screenshots after the jump.

The iPhone 3G is now on sale directly from Apple in the city of Hong Kong, despite no prior announcements, listings reveal. An 8GB phone is selling for $5,400 HK ($692), while a 16GB model costs $6,200 HK ($794). Notably, iPhones in the region can be “activated with any wireless carrier,” according to Apple, and require only that a carrier’s SIM card be installed prior to sync with iTunes 8.

Tuesday App Showcase: AccuFuel

Tuesday App Showcase is a weekly look at my favorite Apps available from the Apps Store.

AccuFuel Fuel Efficiency Tracker is a powerful tool that makes monitoring your vehicle’s fuel efficiency simple and fun. With AccuFuel, you’ll instantly see how your driving habits affect your car’s fuel efficiency. The $.99 app allows you to track multiple vehicles with the swipe of your finger. I purchased the app about a month ago and decided to track my fuel usage as the price of gas approached close to $4 a gallon. The app is very easy to use and does everything I am looking for in a fuel tracking application. It has a breakdown for your fuel mileage overall and since your last fillup. You can simply add your fillup details by touching the gas pump in the center of the screen.

AccuFuel was designed and developed by Appigo, Inc. It is affordably priced at $.99 cents and is a great addition to Apps Store. Click here to purchase AccuFuel from the Apps Store. See more screenshots after the break.

How MobileMe Won Me Back

September 21, 2008 · Filed Under Cloud Computing, MobileMe, Tech News, iPhone & iPhone 3G, iPod Touch · Comment

When Apple announced MobileMe I was extremely excited about the ability to have push calendars, email and contacts. However, my excitement was quickly extinguished when MobileMe lost all my contacts and could not keep my Safari bookmarks organized. I tried to accept it, but ultimately I gave up on MobileMe. I decided to simply quit using it and maybe give it a try again later. Well, that later finally came this past Monday. I decided to reactivate my MobileMe account on my iPhone and with an open mind, tried MobileMe again. Read more
